¶ Sūtyme
it comyth of yre or piue hate / that norschith rancor
in herte / as aftyrward I schal declare
¶ Thāne comyth
ek bittirnesse / of herte / thorw whiche bittirnesse euery
good dede of his neighebour semyth to hȳ bittyr and
onsauory
¶ Thanne comyth discord that vnbyndith
alle manere of frenchepe / ¶ Thanne comyth scornȳge
as whāne a man sekyth occasioū to a noyen his neig-
hebour / al do he neuere so weel
¶ Thāne comyth ac-
cusynge / As whā a man sekyth occasioū to a noyen
his neihebour whiche that is lik the craft of the de-
uyl that wayth bothe nyght & day to acusyn vs alle
¶ Thanne comyth malignete / thor whiche a man noy-
eth his neighebour / piuyly ȝif he may /

brenne his hous pryuyly / or enpoysoune or slē hese bestes

remedye a geyns this foule sȳne of enuye
Fyrst is the loue of god picipal & louynge of his neg-
hebour as hȳ self ¶ For sothly that on ne may not
been wt outyn that othir /
And troste weel that in
the name of thy name / of thȳ neghebor ; thow shalt
vndyrstonde the name of thȳ brothir / for certis we
han on fadyr fleschely / & on modyr ¶ That is to sey
ne Adam . & Eue . & ek on fadir spirituel / that is god
of heuene
Thi neighebore art thow holde for to
loue & willyn hȳ alle goodnesse / And therfore seith
god loue thi neghebore / as thȳ self / that is to seyn
ne to saluacioū bothe of lyf & soule

thow schat loue hym in word / & in benygne amo-
nestynge / & schastysynge / & conforte hȳ in hise anoy-
is ¶ And preye for hȳ wt al thȳ herte /

schat doon to hȳ in charite ; as thow woldist that
it were doon to thȳ owene persone /
