Whāne this was rad thāne seyde this olde man
Leuyst this thyng or no sey ȝe or nay

This aūgel hadde of rosis & of lylye
Coroūnys two the whiche he bar in hōde
And fyrst to cecilie as I vndirstōde
He ȝaf that on & aftyr gan he take
That othir to valeryan hire make

With body cleene & with vnwēmede thought
Kepith ay cleene these coronys quod he
Frō paradys to ȝow / I haue hē brought
Ne neuere mo ne schal they rote be
Ne leese here sote sauor trustith me

Ne neuere wigh schal seen hē with his ye
But he be chast & haate vilenye
And thow valerian for thow so soone
Assentedist to good conseyl also
Sey what the lyste & thow schat haue thȳ boone

I haue a brothir quod valeryan tho
That in this world I loue no man so
I preye ȝow that mȳ brothir may hā grace
To knowe the trouthe as I do in this place
The aūgel seyde god lykyth thȳ requeste

And with that word Tiburse his brothyr coom
