And swowned eft in Canacees barm
¶ Gret was the sorow for the hawkes harm

That Canacee and al hir wommen made
Thei nyst how thei myghten the faukon glade
But canacee hom bereth hir in hir lappe
And softly in plastres gan hir wrappe
There as she with hir beek had hurt hir selue

Now can nat Canacee but herbes delue
Out of the grounde and make salues newe
Of herbes percious and fyn of hewe
To helen with this hauk fro day to nyght
She doth hir bisynesse and al hir myght

And bi hir beddes syde she had made a mewe
And couerid it with velwettes blewe
Insigne of trouthe that is in wommen sene
And alle with oute the mewe is peynted grene
In which were peynted of thise fals foules

As bien thise tydyfes tercels and owles .
Ryght for despite were peynted hem biside
And pies on hem for to crie and chide
¶ Thus lete I Canacee hir hauk kepyng
I wole no more speke now of hir rynge
